Dicapo Opera Theatre announces 2008-2009 Season.

Dear Opera Lover,

It is with great excitement that I share with you Dicapo’s new season of world-class theater and adventurous programming.

In keeping with Dicapo’s commitment to combine beloved masterpieces with the bold and the daring, we launch five brand new productions: Turandot, Giacomo Puccini’s last opera, Robert Ward’s American classic The Crucible directed by the sensational Hungarian director, Robert Alföldi in his New York debut, the New York premiere of Tobias Picker’s Fantastic Mr. Fox conducted by the composer himself and directed by the exciting young English director Walter Sutcliffe in his American debut, the American premiere of Janácek’s Šárka and Rossini’s comic masterpiece L’Italiana in Algieri.

This season we are proud to honor the great Giacomo Puccini, on the occasion of his 150th birthday, December 22, 2008, with a gala concert at Lincoln Center.

With something for everyone, the season also features our very popular Dance at Dicapo series, a world premiere monodrama with music by Kurt Weill, and our annual Family Programming, all in our plush jewel box theater at prices so low you will want to sample them all.
