The Dicapo Resident Artists Program

Current Resident Artists are in residence from September 1, 2011 to May 30, 2012.

The Resident Artist program at Dicapo Opera Theatre was established to assist singers in bridging the gap between their music training and their professional careers. Resident Artists perform all comprimario roles, provide covers for leading roles, and provide the ensemble for the mainstage productions.

They also perform in outreach productions for children and seniors as well as many of their own concerts. This season they will present Giannini's Beauty and the Beast and Rossini's La Cenerentolla. In addition, Dicapo provides masterclasses and workshops for the participants throughout the year.

Many Resident Artists have gone on to appear in the nation's opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Sarasota Opera, Nashville Opera, Augusta Opera and Virginia Opera.

Please see Auditions page for information regarding upcoming repertoire and dates.

Resident Artists are assigned appropriate cover roles. The artist covering a main stage role is responsible to attend all principal rehearsals for the covered role. In the event of cancellation or illness, the choice to have the cover perform rests with the company. The Resident Artists have often been called upon to actually perform the roles they are covering.

Compensation: Compromario roles are paid on a per performance basis; covers who perform are paid on a per performance basis.
