Just in time for the holiday season Dicapo celebrates "Christmases past and present" with the world premiere of God Bless Us Everyone by Thomas Pasatieri. Set to a libretto by Michael Capasso and author Bill Van Horn based on the beloved Christmas writings of Charles Dickens, the story takes place twenty years after the events of A Christmas Carol; Scrooge has just died and everyone is two decades older. Tiny Tim has moved from England to the New World, and as so many immigrants, has served as a British mercenary in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Both Scrooge and Tim have suffered the loss of a young love early on in their lives. If A Christmas Carol was ultimately a story of redemption, Tim, in God Bless Us Everyone, cured through the late-blooming generosity of Scrooge, learns the lesson of forgiveness. Be prepared for some surprises. Michael Capasso directs.
