Thursday, Saturday, Friday and Sunday Iolanta, written by Tchaikovsky as a companion piece to his singular masterpiece The Nutcracker and performed in 1892 at the Mariinksy Theatre in St. Petersburg, has not been seen in New York since 1997, when Dicapo Opera produced it last. Now Dicapo creates a new production of Iolanta which will be led by seasoned Russian conductor Semyon Vekshtein.
